Most of the time, I’m too lazy to really get into making my own cosmetics. However, making an excellent, cheap lip balm is so easy that it’s worth the effort. You can find tons of recipes online and it’s always best to experiment a bit to find the one best suited for your needs. My lip balm is very similar to these. I use one tablespoon of beeswax, 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil and just tiny bit of honey and add a few drops of Vitamin E for conservation. Finally, I add a blend of essential oils called “Get well” by Primavera. It contains lemon, myrtle and mint among others and is well suited for winter. Mint oil is always a good choice because it makes the lips look like you’ve just been kissed, but be careful with that if you have sensitive skin. Here’s a picture of my lip balm:

Since it is basically a simple, greasy formula such a balm can also be used for other dry body parts such as feet, elbows or cuticles. If you plan to make one especially for your feet you might want to add lavender or sage oil.
The jar I used once contained mineral make-up and I simply recycled it, but you can also find similar containers at drugstores.
