Since one of my professors suggested in a lecture on the future of conservatism a few months ago that Barack Obama might win over many conservatives who traditionally considered themselves Republicans, I have been on the lookout for indications whether or not this could be the case, but many people on the right still seem to be preoccupied with clinging to divisive issues, which in times of economic crisis seem to be a bit, well, insignificant. I don’t think any of those people being oh-so-shocked about the fact that Obama knows someone like Bill Ayers honestly believe that Obama approves of terrorism. Still, this certain form of journalism/commentary clearly serves a purpose and has already done considerable damage in the past. It’s an insightful account on how the internet changed the way we see the world and how the political discourse is no longer based on facts.

Still, there are some indications that the GOP is losing support among conservatives. You’ve probably already read the article by Christopher Buckley in which he announces his support for Obama. If you haven’t, you should. There you go.
